I, too, had this record in 1958 and listened to all of it by the hour
when I was just a junior in high school in the middle of Arizona.
I understand it differently now than I did then, but I "got it" in a
lot of ways that changed my view of the world. Nice.
This is cool, I wrote a piece in theory class in '69 using lyrics of a Ferlinghetti poem,
but it wasn't this hip; mine was kind of a Gregorian chant-ish. Love hearing Billy Bean!
in the 60's in Hermosa Beach just across from jazz club The Lightouse, was a
bookstore called The Insomniac, well known on the beat scene; I have fond memories as a kid hanging about both places, saw /heard many greats. tks
I am delighted to have found this track. It brings back great memories. What a wonderful album Jazz Cantos was. "Bring me all of your dreams, you dreamers ..." Thank you Mustikuarium, whoever you are!
Hey, George Clark, I wonder if ya know that Dylan actually featured this Bob Dorough record on an episode of his radio show (Theme Time Radio Hour) that was all about dogs...that's how I first heard this record....very, very cool!!
