Dave Brubeck - Bossa Nova U.S.A. download song

I was lucky to see him at the MJF before his passing. He walked out on stage, sat down at the piano to play 'Take Five'. It was like being in 1959 all over again.

This was always one of my favorite DBQ songs. Paul Desmond is the man on alto sax, period - I never heard the guy hit a bad note - ever. And Joe Morello - fogedaboutit!! And of course the genius that is Brubeck!! Thanks for the post!

If I would have to choose my favorite instrument, I would go with the piano.

my dad has kept all his dad's jazz records. this is one of them. its on vinyl. his dad died when when i was born. i think its cool that he still has all his records.

According to Dave, he initially wrote this tune in 1955, adding the "Bossa Nova" motif when he recorded this in late 1962.

Dave originally wrote this in 1955- and "transposed" it into Bossa Nova "mode" when he recorded it on October 25, 1962.

Listen to the drumming of Joe Morello. A master drummer at work. I wish young up and coming indie rock/alt bands would give a listen - they may well be inspired. He could play any style...but he chose to play jazz. Was a great teacher too.

I like Joe Morello's playing like how I admire Charlie Watt's playing. Their both provocatively tasteful yet also demure. Such a good sound!

Do recall (re-live) my having been exposed for the first time to this very enjoyable LP and tune, recently purchased by me at the time, fortunately played most vividly one mid-afternoon on a top flight stereo in a friend's parents' living room - instead of on my very modest (Realistic-famous-name-changer and electrostat speakers) stereo set-up, Also do believe I managed to get myself invited to supper for additional spins, later.
