This is my favourite Dickie Valentine song the words are so meaningful and so clearly sung as always, saw him with the Ted Heath Band many times at the Tower Ballroom Blackpoolin the fifties.

He was a great impressionist too, could do many voices of the day. Very talented man. I had all his records.

Perfect voice. Like Mathis, Cole, and other greats, there was no mistaking who it was when his voice came over the airwaves. Many of todays ballad singers sound so much alike that it's sometimes hard to name them until announcer tells us who it is.

Dead right glongist,it was the Winter Gardens where Ted Heath played, with his singers Dickie Valentine and Dennis Lotis looking very smart in their corduory jackets.I think it was the 4-10 train that we caught from Victoria Station Manchester on a Saturday, returning around midnight, happy days.

The S & H was a favourite haunt of mine between 1955 and 1957, when I was stationed at RAF Horsham St Faith. Dickie Valentine was a favourite of mine too. Not surprised that he was your heartthrob.
