Summertime and the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is fine
Oh, your daddy’s rich and your ma is good lookin'
So hush little baby, don’t you cry
One of these mornings
You’re goin' to rise up singing
Then you’ll spread your wings
And you’ll take the sky but till that morning
There’s a nothin' can harm you
With daddy and mammy standin' by
Sure miss Doc. In my view he was the greatest flattop picker EVER. No doubt that pickers like Steve Kaufman, Bryan Sutton, Tony Rice, Clarence White were/are fantastic, there remains something about Doc's clean, precise picking that hasn't been exceeded.
Is there really more passionate picking anywhere? I was born in the wrong era! I wished i could have seen Doc and Merle play live! What an incredible video thanks for posting!
Man what a performance. Don't you wish that Mark O'Connor had gone with them on tour and that we had many more songs like this. Makes you ache for Doc that he lost Merle so young. If I miss him so much, I can't imagine what it was like for Doc. Incredible playing!
I went to hear Doc in a concert near Knoxville, TN around 2007. it was raining but I just stood there with my Stetson hat on, and listened. I would do it again if I could.
