the late Don Rondo lived in Manchester, NH and I understand he was part-owner of a Ziebart Rustproofing franchise. if you remember the radio commercials in the l970s "Ziebart...Ziebart...it's us..or rust!" that was Don Rondo singing. in later years, he appeared on weekends at the Airport Lounge in Manchester.
One of MANY songs I liked back in the 50's and "White Silver Sands" was one of them. I can still remember hearing that sound come over my new portable GE radio. It was Sweet. !950's, where have you gone? Thanks to the net we can recapture some of the sounds from the past. Thanks to the wonders of electronics it lives on. That's good!
I was a little kid when this was a hit, so I thought when he said, “There on the brink of love I kissed her” I heard it as “low white kister” and imagined “kister” must be the foam that washes upon the “white silver sands.” I’d seen this foam on the shores of the lake where we used to vacation and always referred to it as “kister” after I heard this song.
One of the fondest memories of my childhood in central Wisconsin: listening to this song over and over on the jukebox at Silver Lake Resort (Wild Rose, WI), complete with white, silver sands.
Later in life Don opened a business in Hooksett NH.. He used to do all of his own TV commercials. His son now has a Volvo repair shop at that location. Great guys.
Great song that I enjoyed many times in the early to mid 60's when I was growing up. My father had the 45, and a few other great tunes from that era. Thanks for posting it, I always enjoy listening to this one.
I had this record but it broke year's ago. My brother and his fellow students danced to this song at their high school dances in the late 1950's. Listening to the song brings back childhood memories for me. Thanks for sharing the video.
