Behind a burning red fog
The great mind swims in confusion
Its blood ferments in anger
Honor and wisdom will cower
Your river’s flow is damned all to hell
Drifting in a current to stagnate
Encircle the vision of rust
Your river’s flow is damned all to hell
Strong hearts soar through blindness
Tearing the fog, tearing the eyes to clarity
To a place where truth is seen
Your shell is hollow, so am i The rest will follow, so will i
The first time I listened to this video was in my car, driving home in the dark. The album actually gave me shivers down my spine because it was like an aural trip.
When this album came out i was 16 and didn't like how slow it was. Only hearing the pain of mind album and then buying this, it seemed like such a huge difference in sound. It was something i could not understand at the time.
I held off on re-listening to this album for years, then about 4 years ago i took another listen and it blew me away how powerful and hard hitting it was.
It just goes to show that at age 16..........you don't know shit.
No I mean like, turner specifically said that he thought they were being too derivitive. IT doesnt matter, as early isis pretty great and seperate from neurosis anyway. But seriously if you think they suck and think isis are great then you need to get your head checked. Theyre botgh great.
The first time I heard Neurosis was this album, while falling asleep on the night train going home after a vacation in '99. I listened to it again when I came home, tired and not quite myself - blew my mind. Had never heard anything like it, and made me open to a lot of other interesting music.
I haven't heard this song since 99 and ive never forgotten about this song. had forgotten what the band and song was called. so glad I finally found it again after all these years. just as good as when I first heard it.
as much as i WANT a new neurosis album,i dont need one, this stuff is everlasting,i cannot say that about very many bands, idk how they do it,but its inspiring.
When I first heard Neurosis years ago I just didn't get it. Now I often find myself wishing I had written this music. This album is a true work of art.
Wow! I love these guys! Just stumbled on to them. How have I not heard this? 1999? This is DEFINITELY my go to album if I ever find myself in the wrong neighborhood in the middle of the night. I don't see too may car jackings going down with Neurosis blasting at ear splitting volume...
These guys are really good, I can't believe they've been around since the 80's. It's like if Killing Joke was heavier and scarier, and that's saying something. They need more respect.
Neurosis' greatest song in my opinion.... Amazing progression from start to finish hypnotic. 5:55 is possibly the best sound blast in music!!! Buy the LP!!!
