When I played with Otis back in the early '80's he'd dropped the Elvis version and gone back to his roots which, in my opinion, were better than the Kings (blastonmy I know).
CBSEye There were a few Otis songs Elvis recorded. Don't Be Cruel, All Shook Up, Return to Sender, Paralyzed, Fever, Make Me Know It, One Broken Heart for Sale, Please Don't Drag that String Around, Such An Easy Question, We're Comin' In Loaded (awesome). 10 at least that would make a nice album
Elvis should have recorded an entire album of Otis Blackwell songs. The King's style suited the music of Otis so well, as well of that of Chuck Berry tunes. Wasn't meant to be but we got a few didn't we! Great hearing the songwriters original interpretation! Many thanks! - JG
here you have otis blackwell writing a song for Elvis, who mimicked Blackwell's original demo and then Blackwelll recording a commercial version of his own song mimicking Elvis who had mimicked him. Its kind of like being in a fun house of mirrors. At any rate its a great song and both do it brilliantly.
He was a very songwriter and he recorded in the 1950s a great version of his his own song DADDY ROLLING STONE but this here sounds not good and does him not justice.
on letterman interview he said they asked him to record it first then gave to elvis sorry ass. he copied Mr. Blackwell omg. you people are the worst ever.
