I love the imagery towards the end of this song, the subject is either being exhorted to "undress," dive down (the sutra of a way down) and/or dive UP to the point where the LIVES ARE sav-ed. And what do the steps have to do with it all? Or does the climbing of the steps refer to letting go of one's pride and submitting to God? I do not pretend to understand all this, but it continues to intrigue and haunt me nearly 25 years later.
It's hard being an atheist who had been taught all the usual Judeo-Christian vomit and bullshit over the years, it's difficult to understand
any Eastern tradition, or Buddhism, Sufism, etc. I mean, it takes work to unlearn all the vomit bullshit.

Beyond the album DEEP, HOLY SMOKE in a good album too. In Bauhaus we have a compilation of nice tracks but not entire discography. Daniel Ash is lack of good vocals and lyrics. Love Rockets is the same thing: compilation not full works. Murphy alone is more melodic and him show your strong entonation make the vocals improve.
