Wham Bam was this band's hit...and Memory was a promo single ..some radio stations tried to make it a hit back then.. Got in the Hot 100 singles, but never the Top 40 chart..
The info in your description is way off, LOL. The member this band shared in common with the Grateful Dead (can't figure out why you put the name in parenthesis) is Brent Mydland who's the keyboardist and the one singing the high harmony parts and this was well before he was in the Grateful Dead. This album is 1976 and he joined the Dead in 1979. First, he joined Bob Weir's (Grateful Dead rhythm guitarist and singer) solo project Bobby and the Midnights and around the same time, the Dead were experiencing some major personal troubles with Donna (vocals) and Keith (piano) Godchaux. Bob Weir told the rest of the band that he had a keyboardist who could replace both of them. Brent auditioned, joined as a keyboardist, singer, and songwriter. After 11 years in the Grateful Dead, he died of a possibly intentional cocaine/heroin overdose. He was generally considered a sad and quiet guy over the years. A lot of people didn't think his songwriting gelled with the Dead and he spent a lot of time feeling pretty alienated but he was actually deeply appreciated by the fans for being a steller vocal and keyboard addition to the band. The vocal harmonies were really kicked up a notch with him in the band and he was a great improviser.
