Always need lyrics! Good Lord willin and the creek don't rise Good Lord willin and the creek don't rise we may just survive if the Militia of the Mind arm against those climate blind Desert Sister I'll be breaking in Desert Sister to break you out Knowledge sown in Gaia's bones Knowledge sown in Gaia's bones granite canyon webs of stone her uncorrupted soul will not be possessed or owned Gone when hope is almost Gone you know that's the time we must stand Strong -- Every girl in every band Every cosmic cowboy in the land to the Earth will you show mercy? Good Lord willin and the creek don't rise we may just survive if the Militia of the Mind arm against those climate blind Desert Sister I'll be breaking in Desert Sister to break you out Good Lord willin and the creek don't rise

Is it me or do I sense some Y Kant Tori Read on this track? I love how Tori isn't afraid of experimenting & going all out with every record. She's a genius/goddess.

I vibe with this more than with Cloud Riders, and Tash is sounding good. But this is pretty weird. Not because I don't "get it," it sounds weird to me. Tori wasn't kidding when she said this album was heavily produced. And I miss Matt and Jon.

Tori said in an interview her intent on this song was to unite her daughter Tash with her departed Cherokee grandfather.  He used to say, "Good lord willing and the creek don't rise."  Cherokee are known to sing together as a chant...so, it was her way to converse with him alongside his great granddaughter her never met in this life, Tash.

It's like a hybrid Boys For Pele/Choirgirl track. Perhaps I'm alone in thinking this.

Honestly, I wish people first listened to the artist explain their creative process before making a comment. If you heard Tori's interview and the reason behind Tashs contribution it would make things much more clearer and perhaps minimise the judgement.

Ok, I've listened to it several times now. I'm actually really feeling this! It's different. I do wish the piano showed up more.

This is unlike anything I've heard from her. Very intriguing.

I find it so sad that people expect a human being as deeply into life and a truth seeker like Tori, who has deeply varied aspects to her life to remain the young woman she was when THEY fell in love with her music. All of our lives take different paths from the days of our youth and our art changes if we are evolving and honest at all. I LOVE artists who change with their truth like Bowie and others did. Please stop looking for that same old same old. Not just in your music. Cheers.

Here I sit in a Seattle coffee shop on a sweltering day. We've just set the record for the most consecutive days without rain in this area's history, and the air is full of smoke from blazing wildfires in Vancouver, B.C. The 80's driving beat, lyrics, and fiery instrumentals of "Up The Creek" beautifully convey a sense of urgency to preserve the earth and resist climate change deniers. Thank you for this call to action, Tori! And just to be clear: Tash's smooth harmonies are BRILLIANT on this track. Love her voice, and love the fact that Tori features her talented daughter on her albums.
