This song and “Footprints” by G-unit got me through the hardest period of my life. Whenever I hear, I always remember those times. I was young student, living in a shitty attic in a house full of alcoholics and broken men, because that’s all I could get at the time. I had to put tape all over the walls and windows, because the cold wind would get in, due to how shitty the house and the insolation was. I slept with several sweaters on. I was sick. My first girlfriend, who I loved very much, had just broken up with me. I was failing all my exams, had no purpose in life and all I could think of is get high and hate myself and the world. Fifty’s confident, energetic voice managed to break through the fog I was living in and breathe life into me. I would listen to him non-stop. When I was on the train, the bus, at home, at the park, anywhere and anytime. His experiences told through his songs really struck me and gave me hope that if he could remake himself and become successful, then I could too. 7 years later, I have my dream job, almost paid off my own apartment, I’m traveling the world and I’ve never been more fit. But every time I hear this song, I remember those hard moments.
