Such a sad song, one can sense her broken heart through her amazing voice.

I'm a fool to want you. Billie sang that with true feeling of someone who loved the wrong person. Loving someone who you shouldn't is painful. Billie was one of the greatest singers to have ever lived.

This is late in her career. The voice is lower and damaged. But that makes even more plaintive and hypnotic. It's absolutely beautiful

For whatever else may be said about that era, the music was incredible.

Billie Holiday was a wonderful artist. She did not deserve all of the suffering she experienced in her life. Racial segregation in her lifetime was unfair, unnecessary, and unjustified.

The smooth, hauntingly beautiful music of the orchestra combined with the sadness in her raspy voice...so beautiful.

This is the voice of a woman who suffered a great deal. ♡

Her voice so broken from the years of suffering the hopelessness and despair of heroin addiction...yet it's as if she is singing to me alone..her voice is so haunting and deep and personal. Everytime I hear this the tears just creep..so beautiful. I pray this broken song bird is resting in heaven. Remarkable in every way.

People: dont come here to compare with any new "artist" that are in another level. Billie is untouchable. At that time there were no autotune, or good microphones, or anything for that matter. Dont compare her to people that are only copying stuff, and have no soul or originality in their voices or styles.

Miss Billie Holiday's voice is so hauntingly beautiful...just brings goosebumps to anyone who listens to her...without a doubt! God touched this wonderful woman! I hope...Hope, that she is resting in peace at this very moment...I'm sure that she is.

I would say that the most emotional moment was her listening to the playback of "I'm a Fool to Want You." There were tears in her eyes ... After we finished the album I went into the control room and listened to all the takes. I must admit I was unhappy with her performance, but I was just listening musically instead of emotionally. It wasn't until I heard the final mix a few weeks later that I realized how great her performance really was. (Ray Ellis)
