The passing years will show, so lucky to be the one you run to see
You ve kept my love so young, that i m so lucky to be loving you
you ll hear me say
Time after time, you ll hear me say, that i m so lucky to be loving you
Time after time, i tell myself
that i m so lucky to be loving you
I tell myself, that i m so lucky to be loving you
That i m so lucky to be loving you, time after time
That i m so lucky to be loving you, you ve kept my love so young
I tell myself, that i m so lucky to be loving you, the passing years will show
you ll hear me say
that i m so lucky to be loving you
i only know what i know
And time after time, the passing years will show
Time after time, you ll hear me say After, the passing years will show
The passing years will show, the passing years will show Time, i only know what i know
You ve kept my love so young, you ve kept my love so young, i only know what i know
You ve kept my love so young, i only know what i know
the passing years will show
You ll hear me say, and time after time, that i m so lucky to be loving you
You ll hear me say, and time after time
So lucky to be the one you run to see, you ll hear me say, that i m so lucky to be loving you
You ve kept my love so young, that i m so lucky to be loving you Time, you ve kept my love so young
I only know what i know, time after time
This was the Chet Baker song that made me love Chet Baker and his genre as a whole. A masterpiece that can speak two different sides of a story: an emotional ode to the joy of having someone that you consider yourself lucky to love, or an austere lamentation of regret for losing someone very dear and can only find bits of happiness in regressing to past happy memories with that person. Truly, Chet is a master trumpeter, songwriter and singer, and a poet of the soul.
As a recovering opiate addict, i look to Chet to remind me that my addiction is not me, and it does not make up the sum total of my soul. There is a way out, and it is through art. It is a gift powerful enough to send even the most hopelessly lost into corridors of angelic choirs and bliss.
I may love Chet's singing even more than his playing... there's this kind of yearning in his voice that is like a vocal version of his trumpet technique. Truly beautiful.
Such a pain, how this depressive person can make such soul music, this is just touching my heart and breaking it in thousand pieces, drug addict, who cares, without teeth, always ill, and even though he is just amazing,
One of the great pleasures of life is to learn new things. I am getting up there. And I still cruise around You Tube. And I find this. Life can be very good.
People say he wasn't the best singer, but there's a poignance and sweetness about his voice which is way above most, and in music that's more important, feeling. His trumpet soloing always very melodic to the point you can often sing his solos. So sad what happened to him in the late 60s and 70s, a guy of his legendary status should never have worked at a gas station and struggling like he did.
There is a god, and he reminds us how unexpectedly beautiful life is, in places we may not expect, or even be looking for. And Chet Baker sang us a beautiful song. The moment was captured, and we get to live it.
Time after time I tell myself that I'm
So lucky to be loving you
So lucky to be
The one you run to see
In the evening when the day is through
I only know what I know
The passing years will show
You've kept my love so young, so new
And time after time
You'll hear me say that I'm
So lucky to be loving you
