Ideas don t matter, but diving off the stage was a lot of fun
so eager to please
As the clock ticks, won t eliminate rape or bring down the banks, the music s okay when there s more ideas than solos
Any kind of real change takes more time and work, others stay home Dead, it s the 70s that stunk
Or is satan all you can think of, judging everything by loud fast rules appeal
too many factions safely sulk in their shells
unity is bullshit
peer pressure decrees
When the gigs are wrecked by gangs and thugs, a closed minded Conformist, agree with us on everything or we won t help with anything
Who needs a scene, will the metalheads finally learn something Kennedys, it s competition
guess who s laughing while the world explodes
Will the punks throw away their education, unity is bullshit, when it becomes another stale cartoon
to make a buck revving kids up for war
look who gets record deals
Change and caring are what s real, peer pressure decrees
crossover is just another word for lack of ideas
A hairstyle s not a lifestyle, i don t know
So eager to please, too many factions safely sulk in their shells
So why are we, who sign the most racist
Guess who s laughing while the world explodes, only as tough as gang approval
It s no fun to go out, the music s okay when there s more ideas than solos
Chickenshit conformist like your parents, it s the 70s that stunk
Make the same old mistakes again and again, we dig the same hole, or is satan all you can think of
That kind of attitude just makes a split grow wider, music scenes ain t real life
When it becomes another stale cartoon, when we re all crybabies who fight best among ourselves
Where s the common cause, it s who you know
They won t get rid of the bomb, the 70s are back
When the gigs are wrecked by gangs and thugs, the music s okay when there s more ideas than solos, than changing channels on a tv set
LoL i like metal but i can understand what Jello was feeling in that hard part of his life, when everything around him was changing. Every line in this song it's so actual.
I don't know, man. I would say this song has a few meanings that all go together to form a message. It says quite a few things that the DK have mentioned in other songs, like people who don't actually understand the punk scene joining it and corrupting it, and greedy douche bags signing and setting the most offensive and simple-minded bands in the scene on pedestals for the rest of the world to see so they could make money.
Punk has a message of liberation for the sake of liberation, but punk has been made into a scene where some of the most important things are appearance, whether that be how you dress, do your hair, or how you act in front of other people. When a "true" punk sings something like, "Kill your parents! Burn their bodies!" He would be quite disappointed if someone actually killed their parents and burned their bodies, because that's not what punk is about or what those words would actually mean.
I think "true" punk was raped and murdered by people who couldn't understand sarcasm, irony, or just really any message that the punks were sending out there. Punks seem like they were relatively smart, and the ultimate victory of punk seemed to rely on other people being just as smart.
If the music gotten boring it's because of the people who want everyone to sound the same . Who drive the bright people out , till all that's left is a meaningless fad. So Eager To Please
I remember when I first started listening to DK. It blew my mind, everything that I had ever thought of was in their songs. About a year ago I decided to get their logo tattooed on my wrist and I did it. Everyone still says that I'm going to regret it, because I'm still in high school. I may be young but I know that it's that one thing that I'll never regret. Sorry if my english is bad :)
Honestly, this might be one of the best songs ever written. I get how ridiculous that statement is, but I think it's true, nonetheless.
It's definitely one of the best punk rock songs
