I'd say it depends. The best of post-metal (isis, neurosis and sludge/post-metal blends like Amia Venera Landscape, Devil Sold His Soul, *shels,...) is stunning, but then again there's a lot of crap. Post-rock seems more consistent to me.

Post-rock these days doesnt have as much diversity as I would like. I think there are a lot of good "underground" post-metal bands like Awake in Sleep and The Mire.
