This song never caught my attention, but recently I have played her list on Spotify and it captivated me!
What a great ode to living with no confidence and with a lot of fear ... moments most of us have experienced after disappointments and bad decisions .
This song is a treasure I listen to everyday and it makes me think about the things I am doing wrong
I wanna go to bed
With arms around me
But wake up on my own
Pretend
That I'm still sleeping
Til' you go home
Oh
I can't look at you
This morning
I should probably have a sign
That says
'Leave right now or quicker'
You've overstayed your time
If I don't believe in love
Nothing will last for me
If I don't believe in love
Nothing is safe for me
When I don't believe in love
You're too close to me
And that's why
You have to leave
Maybe I slept peaceful
On your shoulder
Your arm warm around my side
But it's different now
It's morning
And I can't face your smile
The second that I feel
Your safe hands
Reaching out for mine
I slip away and out of sight
You've ovestayed your time
If I don't believe in love
Nothing is good for me
If I don't believe in love
Nothing will last for me
When I don't believe in love
Nothing is new for me
Nothing is wrong for me
And nothing is real for me
When I don't believe in love
Why do you care for me?
When I don't believe in love
Nothing is real for me
If I don't believe in love
You're getting to close to me
And that's why you have to leave
And that's why you have to leave
If I don't believe in love
If I don't believe in love
If I don't believe in love
Nothing is left for me
If I don't believe in love
You're too good for me
Dido don't believe in love is following to her previous lead singles path...but this time darker and bolder. The song is flirting with jazz sound so is her vocal range. Singing about a love that never got a response... Even tho the whole album is dedicated to the loss of her father.. So it's a loss and lost love . Dido is playing most instruments but the arrangements on the strings r down to Brian eno. The bitter-sweet melancholic music is accompanied by Dido s gorgeous vocals cold and icy in a way but in a contrast with the autumn esque music of the song. Dido knows best how to create contrast by Using uptempo and midtempo music and darker lyrics and vice versa. A gorgeous video clip well directed with close ups, reverse shots and plans. It's a beautiful song maybe the popiest song of the album. The album it's self exhales due to its deeper, darker and multilayer layout and is darker than don't believe in love. But I do believe in Dido. Love Ur Greek fan xoxo
