I don't believe in superstars
Organic food and foreign cars
I don't believe the price of gold
The certainty of growing old
That right is right and left is wrong
That north and south can't get along
That east is east and west is west
And being first is always best
But I believe in love
I believe in babies
I believe in mom and dad
And I believe in you
Well, I don't believe that heaven waits
For only those who congregate
I like to think of God as love
He's down below, he's up above
He's watchin' people everywhere
He knows who does and doesn't care
And I'm an ordinary man
Sometimes I wonder who I am
But, I believe in love
I believe in music
I believe in magic
And I believe in you
I know with all my certainty
What's going on with you and me
Is a good thing
It's true
I believe in you
I don't believe virginity
Is as common as it used to be
In working days and sleeping nights
That black is black and white is white
That Superman and Robin Hood
Are still alive in Hollywood
That gasoline's in short supply
The rising cost of gettin' by
But I believe in love
I believe in old folks
I believe in children
I believe in you
I believe in love
I believe in babies
I believe in mom and dad
And I believe in you
My Daddy was his band back in the 70's when he played at the Jungle Inn in Weslaco, Texas, I fell in Love with his music, will never stop listening, Dec 19, 2019
This song fills my heart and resonates within my soul. Don Williams honest and straight forward style makes him one of the great ones. I fell in love with the song when it was released and makes my short list of all time favorite songs to this day. I enjoy singing it. The simple and uncomplicated songs where you just "put it out there" tend to make the biggest impressions. Just an honest telling of your feelings. That's the GOOD stuff.
Yesterday I had my graduation party and during karaoke, before I left my grandpa said he had a song for me (which was this song) and he was singing this to me as my grandma was hugging me n singing along too. When I hugged him afterwards he said to me "I've waited all week to sing that for you" . It had me crying. Such a classic. Now I can't stop listening to this song :)
I of course recorded him singing it, and now I can watch it every day
