Eden Ahbez wrote this for Nat King Cole. Eden was a hippie before there were hippies. 1960, he was living under one of the "L"s in the "HOLLYWOOD" sign. Natilie Cole was walking with her father, Nat King Cole, through Hollywood & they met Eden on the street. Afterwards, Natilie said she thought they had just met Jesus.
There was a boy
Il y avait un garçon
A very strange enchanted boy
Un garçon très étrange enchanté
They say he wandered very far, very far
Over land and sea
Sur la terre et la mer
A little shy and sad of eye
But very wise was he
Mais il était très sage
And then one day
Et puis un jour
A magic day he passed my way
Une journée magique, il passe mon chemin
And while we spoke of many things
Fools and kings
Fous et les rois
This he said to me
C'est ce qu'il m'a dit :
" The greatest thing you'll ever learn
" La plus grande chose que vous aurez jamais apprendre
Is just to love and be loved in return "
Mister Von Penguin, I've just listened to this video approximately 45 times in a row, I mean it. Thank you very much for posting this. I never knew this wasn't a King Cole's authorship, and the original version, miraculously, is even better
