I was a teenager when Elmore was in his prime and you could hardly find his music on the radio. Luckily there was one black station that played stuff like the Chicago Blues with Elmore, the Wolf, Jimmy Reed, Slim Harpo, Muddy, Lightning Slim and a host of others. I dug the Wolf but I loved Elmore. I still have my 45 of Dust My Broom. It is a treasure. Only some white folk now like this kind of music but in my day the black community ate this stuff up.
There is always much to be said about Elmores great slide playing but he was also a beautifully emotive blues singer in the bargain. His voice thrills me.
BB admits that he got the vibrato that he uses from Elmore! Elmore is my favorite blues player/singer of all time. Not to take anything from Robert Johnson, though.
well without people like Elmore James , Muddy Waters Dinah Washinton , Robert Johnson and many more. The muzic of today would be so diffrent. The formention form many kinds of todays muzic. well from the late 50's , 60's and 70's From rock & Roll to Southern Rock Bands. They influenced the likes of Chuck Berry , Otis Redding ,The Allman Brothers to Lynyrd Skynyrd. Sadly i dont see many to carry on after these bands are gone on to the next world. Support your local muzic scene. Weneednewmusicians
