My stepfather from when I was 10 to 27 is Daniel Lee Delancey from Upland California. He was the best stepfather I could have ever asked for. Thank you Dan for being so awesome. Rest in peace with my beautiful mother Joyce Marie Delancey and sister Jeanne Marie Hill. I can't wait to see the three of you again when it is my turn to come to heaven❤❤❤❤❤

Here's my story about Elton John. I was in grade school when I became aware of this song. For the very first time, a song caught my attention. Music meant something to me after that. I was hooked! Than a few yeas later I began earning money by babysitting. For the first time I was able to but my own record albums! I was beyond excited to buy 'Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy'! I played that record more times than I'd ever be able to count. Now, at the age of 56, music is still a huge part of my life. I am blessed.
Hey, I wanna tell you a personal story about this song...I know most people won't care about this text, but it's nice to share it.
I'm spanish, and I was born in 1995, 2-3 years before my birth, my mum was listening to this song while driving the car and she thought Daniel would be a nice name for her son if she had one; she didn't speak english, she only understood a few words of the song. (And yes, my name is Daniel). A week ago she told me about this song and "the story", so here I am, listening to it. (What a beautiful song!) But, the most interesting fact about all of this is that... I love planes and aviation since I was a child, and I'm gonna obtain my pilot license after college.

So many memories. lost my second brother in a car accident in 1983 and my older brother used to play this song over and over again. Cried throughout. He aslo passed away in 1987. Now this song just brings back so many memories of my brothers. My second brothers name was Daniel. :(
I was 15 years old on vacation with my parents in Laredo TX and this song came on the radio. My daddy started to change the channel and I said no daddy I love this song. My daddy played country music and I played Bass in his band but I loved all music.
And Everytime I hear this song I think of my daddy. He didn't like Rock but he didn't change the channel that day and he actually liked the song. Very special moment in my life ❤️

My son Daniel is on mission far away by plane in Philippines he is an old soul. he is such a loving young man. I miss him so much but am so proud and blessed to have in my life.
Came here for the song, listened to it 5 times for Elton’s voice, then about 6 times for the bass line and other 5 for the drum fills. Incredible musicianship. Lost my older brother who was just 35 last year, he loved this song.. always playing it for you .

This was my brother favorite song, unfortunately, my brother died 6 months ago from Duodenal Cancer, as I sat in the living room sofa, I had to hear this song so my memory can go back in time with me and my brother together. RIP Surresh, gone but not forgotten.
this was my son's most favorite song, both my boys were killed together while attending a school function, they were 17yrs and 7yrs old, I just had to play it at their funeral. I still hear my oldest son singing this song in my head. Rusty wanted to be a comedian on stage, I love you son's!! clouds in my eyes right now!!!
My son Daniel passed away at the young age of 31 years old. We had it played at his funeral, I cry every time I hear it, I still miss him so very much. He’s been gone 11 years now.
