Yeah now that i m on my own, playing a new game
I sing along when i hear it on the radio now, i hear a song it makes me think of a girl i used to know
Days when the rains came, la la la la la Brown, sha la la la la la la la la la la la
I saw you just the other day, you my brown eyed girl Everclear, la la la la la
Playing a new game, my brown eyed girl Everclear, way down in the hollows
I saw you just the other day, la la la la la, days when the rains came
I sing along when i hear it on the radio now, sometimes i am overcome
Sometimes i am overcome, behind the stadium with you
playing a new game
Way down in the hollows, do you remember when? Everclear, do you remember when
la la la la la
I sing along when i hear it on the radio now, sha la la la la la la la la la la la
Do you remember when?, sha la la la la la la
I saw you just the other day, i sing along when i hear it on the radio now Everclear, we used to sing
I hear a song it makes me think of a girl i used to know, la la la la la, yeah my heart s a thumping
you my brown eyed girl
Just thinking about it, laughing and a running, we used to sing
Skipping and a jumping, my brown eyed girl Brown, we used to sing
I sing along when i hear it on the radio now, sha la la la la la la
You re my brown eyed girl, playing a new game
i sing along when i hear it on the radio now
You my brown eyed girl, la la la la la
I don't understand how anyone comes to an incest conclusion from this video. To me its 100% apparent that when she marries this other guy, he feels like he is relegated to the "brother" roll. You know, the whole "I love you, but like family" deal.
Its so cliche that its hard to believe anyone can miss it. If you did I just feel bad.. For you.
Even though nothing beats the original, I love that they didn't try to just "cover" the original. Rather, they made it their own. That's far more interesting and enjoyable.
I don't like too many covers. Bands either ruin the original song, or copy it note for note and who needs that? This though is a really good cover of a truly classic song. It's true to the original while they make it uniquely theirs as well. Not that easy to pull off.
This version really does this song justice in that it's about remembering someone. There is hardly anything more bittersweet than thinking about lost love.
During the first 45 seconds, I was really hating this cover. But by the two minute mark, I did a total 180. I understand why people don't like it, but I think it's fantastic.
I was in high school when Van Morrison scored a hit with his song, and I've always loved it. But Everclear's version really brings back the "feeling" of those days for me. It's not better, it's not worse. It's their version and hits me where I live.
When this AMAZING CD came out, my kids were about 5 and 3, put it on in the morning, full blast, for the whole house to wake up to. We all have VERY different music tastes, kids are now 25 and 23, we can STILL put this CD on, everyone in the house sings along to every song, still loving it after all of these years!
