"Hey Venus - Oh, Venus" - the melodic line and chord progression with beautiful vocal accompaniment lends a feeling of spiritual ascension-most inspiring.....
THE MOST PRECIOUS ARRAGMENT AND VOICE I HAD EVER HEARD....TAKES ME BACK IN TIME, AND TEARS JUST COME RUNNING DOWN, SUCH NOSTALGIC TIME WITH FAMILY, FRIENDS AND PLACES..........GOOSEBUMPS OF COURSE CAN'T DENY IT.......KEEP COMING BACK FROM TIME TO TIME TO THIS AMAZING SONG ....FEB 2020 WHO IS LISTENING ?
Someone ought to do a documentary about the background vocalists who were behind this and many songs in those days...They deserve notoriety for their beautiful heavenly blend of tight harmony. We never knew their names or saw shots in the studio of these pros. This recording would have been very different without arrangements like this.. Hat's off to the back up musicians and singers !! Real humans, not the synthesized, cheap, digital C R A P of today's forgettable noise !!
I'm tired of the burnt-out phrase "I'm _ and I love this music. I was born in the wrong generation". You were born with every modern convenience imagined; take it for granted.
One of those unforgettable songs which describe very well how dreamy we are when we are young or at least how we were. We felt like if we were flying in that first love until something happened the ballon burst and we fell on earth again. But it is very nice to remember those days and the illussions and dreams we had.
Hey Venus
Oh Venus
Venus if you will
Please send a little girl for me to thrill
A girl who wants my kisses and my arms
A girl with all the charms of you
Venus make her fair
A lovely girl with sunlight in her hair
And take the brightest stars up in the skies
And place them in her eyes for me
Venus goddess of love that you are
Surely the things I ask
Can't be to great a task
Venus if you do
I promise that I always will be true
I'll give her all the love I have to give
As long as we both shall live
Venus goddess of love that you are
Surely the things that I ask
Can't be to great a task
Venus if you do
I promise that I always will be true
I'll give her all the love I have to give
As long as we both shall live
Hey Venus Oh Venus
Make my wish come true
Born in 1950, I still get amazed by just how perfect this song is. Crystal clear music; I can smell & feel that time... innocence, awe, joy of being alive...
What I really like of these old songs is the innocence in them. There is no mention of sex, no bad words, and just the pure feelings of the teenagers most of my generation used to be then. We respected girls then and did not try to get advantage of them. And girls were charming and knew when it was the time to stop kissing before everything went out of control. Nice times we lived through.
