Back then, people were people. Dressed smart, good music, and politeness. I love these catchy tunes. Didn't matter what color. I never even thought of that back then.

What a amazing talent Frankie Lymon was and to lose his life at only 25 years old...Such a shame that the best have to die so young.

The Teenagers' first single, 1956's "Why Do Fools Fall in Love," was also its biggest hit. After Lymon went solo in mid-1957, both his career and that of the Teenagers fell into decline. He was found dead at the age of 25 on the floor of his grandmother's bathroom from a heroin overdose. His life was dramatized in the 1998 film Why Do Fools Fall In Love.

It's amazing how black people overcome things. Even through terrible times a lot of us still sung and danced and were successful.

The Jackson 5 was influenced by them. Micheal once said that Frankie was one of influences.

Damn, Frankie was a brilliant songwriter, an incredibly talented singer, and a natural performer! Even if he didn't write those jokes at the beginning, he delivered them with such charisma that you never see from a 13 year old. How sad that he was gone so soon. :(

I was ten years old in '56. This WAS THE FIRST rock n roll song that I memorized and listened for on the radio. So COOL! I'm 73 now and wow! It still makes me happy and want to sing along. Long live ROCK N ROLL!!!
