Why be afraid if i’m not alone
Though life is never easy the rest in unkown
Up to now for me it’s been hands against stone
Spent each and every moment
Searching for what to believe
Coming out of the dark, i finally see the light now
It’s shinning on me Coming out of the dark, i know the love that saved me You’re sharing with me Starting again is part of the plan
And i’ll be so much stronger holding your hand
Step by step i’ll make it through i know i can
It may not make it easier but i have felt you
Near all the way
(repeat chorus)
Forever, forever i stand on the rock of your love
Forever i’ll stand on the rock
Forever, forever i stand on the rock of your love
Love is all it takes, no matter what we face
(chorus out)
I was diagnosed with bone cancer in 1989 I spent 18months in the hospital. Odds were 75/25 and when I beat the odds after hair loss and multiple surgeries. This song gave me so much strength at the age of 8. My sister sent me this link this morning and I'm crying on how far I've come.
It's the middle of March 2020 as the the world is grappling with the COVID-19 virus. I dedicate this to all of you. We will get through this! Keep the faith!
In 1992 after Hurricane Andrew blew through the south end of Dade county leaving tens of thousands homeless, Gloria quickly assembled a concert named Hurricane Relief at Joe Robbie Stadium. Jimmy Buffett, Miami based The Bee Gees, Nestor Tores, Crosby Stills Nash, Andy Garcia, Asia,Julio Iglesias,Jon Secada and many other notables showed up to lend support. Miami was without power and dark, as was much of the stadium. The show opened darkened, like black dark, and as the stage lights came up, Gloria sang this offering hope to all of us. I still tingle.
I loved this song, it was such an awesome comeback after the accident. The moment she walked on the stage was emotional, after almost being wheelchair bound, she was determined to walk again.
I remember she was in a bus accident. She was paralyzed from the neck down. She had to learn how to walk again. She also was in a coma. I too was in an accident and had to learn how to walk again. When I was in surgery my body floated out to watch the surgeon fix my leg. I too was coming out of the dark just like her.
Her Most Magnificent Song...EVER. It Refers To The Bus Accident, SURE, BUT. - IT IS SO MUCH MORE Than That. She Is Singing About GOD. Her Relationship To HIM!! IT IS Truly Awesome. She Understands And Appreciates What HE Did For Her. What HE Can DO For ALL Of US... If WE Let HIM. Praise GOD. Hallelujah!!
This song has always held a special place in my heart. Theres glorias story and mu dads story they both had their changing accidents at the same and were in the same hospital and were operated on by the same doctor in the brand new OR. So coming out of the dark was not only about her accident but for us it was about his! Gloria Estafan i hope this reaches you!
