I would assume Blasting the Plant refers to smoking weed perhaps, or like others said it refers to Led Zeppelin ? Could be a few meanings, even to do with the car.

I remember being 22, listening to nothing but HEAVY METAL, and not giving a rat's ass if anybody else liked it or not. 1984 was a KICK-ASS year for ROCK and HEAVY METAL!!!

I remember when KMET used to play this song back in 1984. I would crank it up loud, and my attitude was, if you didn't like it, you can "Stick It"!!! It was my ultimate rebellion song of 1984. This is REAL MUSIC!!!!!
