This is the finest and most delightful rendition of this song including the interpretation and performance by the orchestra. I can listen to it over and over and never get tired of it.
My grandmother, also of Irish background, was a flapper. She battled breats cancer like Kane, getting surgery and radiation about the same time. I remember hearing that in the early 1900's unscrupulous milk vendors would water down the milk and add FOrMALDEHYDE a known carcinogen. I'm developing a Betty Boop act in tribute to my grandmother, in part.
How can you fall in love with your granny?! This girl was turning heads when I was born! I still find her very sexy and attractive. Oh the power of music! (all sorts)
Helen Kane was stunning. Although the roaring twenties was a bit ago the music was better than the shite they churn out today. No voice correction boxes - AutoCue etc, you could either sing or you couldn't. Cheryl Cole would have got shot in a speak easy!
I'm always end up imagining "uwu" instead of "ooh-ooh"
Be careful crossing streets, uwu
Cut out sweets, uwu
Lay off meat, uwu
You'll get a pain and ruin your tum-tum
One of the best of the twenties. "Beware of stocks and bonds" is wise and funny in that the song was released the year of the market crash of 1929 (and I know that it was not really funny for it was the beginning of the Great Depression).
