It’s the glare from the reflection
Making patterns in your eyes
It’s the looking back in anger
With every second slipping by
Undertow has come to take me
Guarded by the blazing sun
Look at everything around us
Look at everything we’ve done
Please, anyone
I don’t think I can
Save myself
I’m drowning here, please
Anyone
I don’t think I can
Save myself
There’s a tiny little window
Swarms of locusts fill the sky
Maybe I just disappear
If I can keep my head above the tide
Please, anyone
I don’t think I can
Save myself
I’m drowning here, please
Anyone
I don’t think I can
Save myself
"hey, this sounds familiar, I'd recognise that NIN buildup anywhere. Lass singer? Has to be 'how to destroy angels', yup, so it is. Cool music choices"
I've always loved this song. I remember listening to it constantly along my moves through Paris at night with The Space in between before they release the full EP, I believe those two tracks came out a bit earlier.
"Please anyone, I don't think I can save myself" > this cry for help sounds so calm it makes it even more dramatic imho, as if it was all vain and no one would care, though she just HAS TO pronounce those words.
"It's the glare from the reflection
Making patterns in your eye
It's the looking back in anger
For every second slipping by
Undertow has come to take me
Guarded by the blazing sun
Look at everything around us, well
Look at everything we've done
Please, anyone?
I don't think I can
Save myself
I'm drowning here, please
Anyone?
I don't think I can
Save myself
I'm drowning here, please
Anyone?
I don't think I can
Save myself
I'm drowning here please,
Anyone?
I don't think I can
Save myself
There's a tiny little window
Swarms of locusts fill the sky
Maybe I'd just disappear
If I can't keep my head above the tide
Please, anyone?
I don't think I can
Save myself
I'm drowning here, please
Anyone?
I don't think I can
Save myself
I'm drowning here, please
Anyone?
I don't think I can
Save myself
I'm drowning here please,
Anyone?
I don't think I can

the other day i drove to a place where i always went when i was little kid and sat in my car and looked at the surrounding area while listening to this and it was surreal... all the trees had grown over 30ft play ground was removed, half the trees where torn out. but somehow i still felt like i was at home. don't know if it was this song but it brought back apart of my life that i miss and took for granted
Guys, this isn't NIN, it's How to Destroy Angels, stop saying it isn't as good as NIN, it's a completely different band. Personally, I think HTDA is excellent.
Of course it sounds like NIN. Trent Reznor formed this group. This is his artwork. OF COURSE IT WILL SOUND LIKE NIN! Common sense is not so common. Stop hating.
I hear a lot of people say that HTDA songs would be better with a different female lead. I disagree. I love the sound of her voice. Not every song reznor writes for a female lead has to sound like A Warm Place or even La Mer. I also think that this song was intended to sound the way it does.
The ending with the guitars with the low-treble tone reminds me of the ending to We're in this Together.
I love both NIN and HTDA. They are different bands for a reason people.
Also, yes: Trent Reznor is amazing. Mariqueen Maandig is also. Her voice gives me chills in this song and at the very beginning of Keep it Together when she says "I feel the skin unraveling..."
