Sometimes it's about winning the battle, not the war. Ja lost the war but he didn't lose this battle...you got a let fools know you ain't never scared. Them one hitter quitters can do the most damage and actually wound your opponent. Kool Moe did it to LL, MGK did it to Em, Nas Did it to Jay! Ijs

Watching Irv Gotti's interview on The Breakfast Club, and he mentions Clap Back as one of the dopest songs of Ja Rule's career. And while it was a modest hit, it should've been a MAJOR HIT, considering the status of Ja back then. But everyone was in love with the emergence of 50, and his all out assault on Ja Rule. 50's attack, along with the FEDS taking down Murder Inc, essentially killed Ja Rule's career . . . and indirectly led to the demise of NYC hip hop. 50 is great, but to me, Ja Rule and Fat Joe are essentially one of the last NYC hip hop stars. Even Nicki Minaj can't really claim to have a NYC sound, because she's way too pop and South influenced. I'm a down South dude and love our music. But I liked the gritty NY sound as well. Ja Rule back then could do it all, from R&B collabos with Ashanti and J-Lo . . to gritty records like this.

ja didnt have the right fanbase. he didnt have the kind if rep for the beef on wax. he didnt have the kind of team that could go back and forth with the unit. the fight was fixed for murder inc to lose. and who knows to this day this could all have been setup and agreed to by both sides. its not that far fetched
