i hear foot steps slowly walking, as they gently walk across the lonely
floor.
i hear a voice softly saying, darling this will be good by for ever more.
there goes my reason for living, there goes the one of my dreams.
there goes my only possesion, there goes my everything.
as my memory turns back the pages, i can see the happy years we had before
i hear a voice softly saying, darling this will be good bye for ever more
there goes my reason for living there goes my everything, there goes my only
possesing, there goes my everything.
My grandfather was one who never made it past the 9th grade, however he became one of the most influential people in my life. He worked for McDonnell Douglas, Conoco and Boeing. During the time when Boeing was laying off many of those who worked at the Helicopter plant in Mesa AZ, he played Classic Country at the Mammoth Steakhouse & Saloon in Goldfield Ghost Town out in Apache Junction Arizona. This was one of the songs I considered my favorite that he did. RIP you earned it. (08/08/39 - 03/28/05)
My hired man said I hummed this a lot during the year of my divorce. When I met my new wife a couple of years later he said I often hummed "You are my special angel." Thirty-two years of misery, five years of bliss. I prefer the bliss.
My parents song......when my dad died, this song just tore my moms heart out every single time she heard it --- still .......almost 30 years later, it hurts to hear but solo beautiful
I was lucky enough to get to know Jack Green in my 7 years in Nashville. He was such a kind gentle soul and I loved him. he had a true country voice and I still love it. Did u know Jack won the first male vocalist at the first CMA awards in 1967. and this song was song of the year.
such a timeless song, a lost hit of the 60s. Jack is the only person I want to hear sing this, he is by far one of the most underrated country singers in history.
Nobody will ever sing " There Goes My Everything " , with the heart and soul that Jack Greene (The Jolly Green Giant) as he was called, was able to sing that song. Mr. Greene possessed that quality which made country music special. I had this song played at my Dad's funeral!
I was in Ernest Tubb's record shop in Nashville recently and one of the CDs I bought was Jack Greene's greatest hits. I said to the guy at the checkout...I'm buying the ones I can't get at home. Where's home, he asked.Ireland, I said. Well, that's a good one, he said. How right he was!!!
