David Lindley adds such a lonesome, haunting feel to Jackson's songs with that lap-steel virtuosity.

"These days I seem to think a lot About the things that I forgot to do". God what a line. Makes me think I should do the things I want to do before it's too late, like ask out that girl.

Incredible that he wrote this world-weary masterpiece at the age of 16 !

I had several strokes after experiencing congestive heart failure and I was unable to speak more than a couple of words at a time. (Not good for a radio guy) I would listen to this song as I was in between therapies. (Speech and Physical) I have mostly recovered the ability to speak and walk but this tune as well as other Jackson Browne songs got me through some pretty dark days. Thank you Jackson.

The first time I heard this song was back in college. I was hanging out with some friends of mine in my dorm room, and we were high and listening to music. Nico's cover of this was playing, and I said it was one of my favorite songs, and this close friend of mine said, "The original is better," and I didn't know it was a cover, and had never heard this one, so he put it on me for me. A couple years ago, that friend ended his life. After his official funeral, a few of us closest friends held a private ceremony, and I sang this. It will always make me think of that. RIP Matt. Miss you all the time.

I'll bet a lot of people listening to this have also recently listened to Top of The World - The Carpenters. Afterlife has such an incredible soundtrack.
