My god what a voice! That woman could reach deep down in your soul and grab whatever has got you down and throw it at you in a giant ball of energy...she's been gone for 45 years now...let that sink in...HALF A CENTURY...and I swear to god the hair on my neck still stands on end when I hear that amazing woman belt out a tune. Dear beautiful Pearl...you left us way too soon but your music will live on forever.

The fact that she’s 26 here and looks 46 ... heroin is one hell of a drug ... lost her so young

I saw Janis on July 7, 1970 at the Civic Auditorium in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The ticket was a gift from my Mother on my 15th birthday. The show was then, and still is to this day one of the big thrills of my life. My Mother worked at the Holiday Inn where Janis was staying, and brought me her autograph. I asked her how she knew it was her...she told me, " I guessed by the way she was dressed, and all of the people with her, that she was somebody important." Janis was dead three months later. A bright and shining star that burned out too soon. RIP , Pearl....

The Bee Gees do their definitive and best version of this their own song on the Here At Last Live from 1977. Check it out, its really amazing as is Janis doing it here!

My Dad thought that she was an amazing talent that went too soon. He said that a lot of people went before their time in the 60's. We are seeing a repeat of that in today's society. It's sad.

She needed 5 more years to develop her vocals.

She is the epitome of what is missing in today's music. Singing from the heart and pouring out your soul and meaning every word in a song. Anyone can sing, but not everyone can be a singer.......Rest In Peace Janis!

Janis always said she wanted to make music that seemed "real" to the listener. I think she succeeded.

The Bee Gees were icons and wrote fantastic songs. And they were absolutely amazing on stage. And Janis takes one of their best songs and gives it more than justice - by doing it her way. Brilliant!!!

"Like most girls I’m always really self-conscious about do I look fat, if my legs are short, if I’m weird shaped, but when I go on stage, man, it never occurs to me, I think I look beautiful. " Janis Joplin

She sang it from her heart. I can feel her pain. She was beautiful.
