Hey, I just remembered another version of On & On that Jesse Sauders made called "Fantasy"...

...It came out in 1984, shortly after On & On. And as you can hear, it's true classic Chicago house in almost every sense of the word.
Jesse, yes. But please let us also remember Vince Lawrence who co-wrote it, did half the vocals and got the record made & pressed at his Dad's record company.
I love when people come into comments and post stuff like they have an actual clue about Chicago in the 1980's. No disrespect to the Godfather Of House, and R.I.P Frankie, however when you look up "Your Love" by Jamie Principle, you will hear Knuckles most famous song without ONE single credit or mention. How bout' that?
WBMX here in Chicago where the first to put a lot of house tracks on the air but if you wanted to hear some deep house you had to go to: The warehouse, the playground, the power plant, sauyers, AKA's and where I used to hear my dude Mr Ron hardy was at the music box!!!! RIP bro!!! Then WKKC and pink house stated " Friday nite audio and WGCI started they're set. But for me it all started on WBMX with the hot mix 5.
I know what Hi-NRG disco music sounds like, and that is definitely not Hi-NRG. If anything, it's more closer to classic Chicago house than the Midway track you posted before.
Here's another vocal version of the track:

While there are a few disco moments, most of it is definitely classic Chicago house.
