All the colours that we saw they touched us
All the trails that they made we followed
We can be just like all of the others
We have to be just like all of the others
All the spaces they made for us
Are all filled up
And they will deceive us and they will desert us
But all our colours will always be with us
And all our colours they will always be with us
All our colors will always be with us…
This song is forever embedded into my memories. I wont forget reading the lyrics at two in the morning when I heard my mother in distress, rushing downstairs while she was on the phone with my uncles mother-in-law, the call that a man that I had grown up with someone who was much closer than an uncle, someone who was more of a big brother had hung himself. These beautiful lyrics and this song which has an almost melancholic atmosphere will always be associated with this gut wrenching pain. I've loved Jesu for several years now and with this recent event in my life, I can't help but weep to this beautiful song. Fuck I'm pitiful.
My friends and I took a trip in the summer around England, from driving around the countryside, to walking around London, with this album constantly playing. We took some acid and had a picnic in this deep green field, near Breedon on the Hill, the church in the distance. I remember thinking that I was in paradise, with the deep blue sky above me and the lush ground beneath, when my friend put the stereo down and pressed play. It really was perfect.
All I could do was sit completely still and stare at the album cover when I listened to the whole disc. I was and still am at a loss of words and have no emotions that portray what I feel about this music.
Isis is similar to jesu in how they are bother very heavy and very atmospheric, although jesu is more influenced by dream pop and shoegaze, and Isis is more influenced by, well, justin Broaderick.
