Song Lyrics
That our forefathers harnessed before us hear the bells ring as the tight rigging sings, as the son of a son of a sailor
Son of a son of a sailor, read dozens of books about heroes and crooks Son, son of a son
and the lady she hails from trinidad
one step ahead of the jailer
salt for your meat
If i knew i might toss out my anchor, you can shake the hand of the mango man
Haul the sheet in as we ride on the wind, if i knew i might toss out my anchor Sailor, son of a gun
You can shake the hand of the mango man, son of a gun Jimmy, island of the spices
Not a lawyer a thief or a banker, like a man just released from indenture
Son of a son, as the son of a son of a sailor
Load the last ton, where it all ends i can t fathom my friends, so i cruise along always searchin for songs
And the rum is for all your good vices, expanding the view of the captain and crew
and the rum is for all your good vices
And the rum is for all your good vices, and i learned much from both of their styles, now away in the near future
Expanding the view of the captain and crew, as the son of a son of a sailor
Haul the sheet in as we ride on the wind, as he greets you at the border
now away in the near future
I m just a son of a son, my tradition remains Son, not a lawyer a thief or a banker
as the son of a son of a sailor
The sea s in my veins, where it all ends i can t fathom my friends, not a lawyer a thief or a banker
son of a son
Southeast of disorder, you can shake the hand of the mango man Of, i went out on the sea for adventure
son of a son
The sea s in my veins, salt for your meat, son of a gun
the sea s in my veins
Son of a son, i went out on the sea for adventure
but a son of a son
I went out on the sea for adventure, and the lady she hails from trinidad, as the son of a son of a sailor

Just short of 27 years. I still miss it,
I'm a Marine Corps vet that served on a few different US Navy ships USS Beaullowood, Peleliu, and Essex, Desert Storm, Restore Hope, and Iraqi Freedom.
Whenever my friends in highschool ask me who my favorite singer is I say jimmy Buffett and they laugh at me. I don’t care though. J Cole, Travis Scott, and Migos can’t evoke the same amount of meaning or emotion to anyone like Jimmy Buffett does. I was raised on this music by my father and it has shaped me into the person I am today and the person I want to grow old as
I'm a former US Navy Lieutenant with multiple overseas, sea service deployments on a forward deployed submarine. And also I'm an Operation Enduring Freedom veteran with over a year in Afghanistan (although not on a sub at the time obviously). While out at mission my fellow officers and I would jam this song in the wardroom for a little extra morale. Fair winds and following seas to all my Navy brothers and sisters past and present. May God continue to bless the US Navy and the USA!
proud daughter of a man who has sailed all his life :) also, a man who even put his daughter into sail camp 2 summers in a row as a teen so she’d always have those skills and could sail well, rig sailboats, and even man certain boats on her own. man, i miss my old man and the memories we shared in the water in the catamaran he built.
Ah, Jimmy Buffett through the years, with a full head of hair and moustache, then he starts developing a receding hair line and later becomes bald.
