Both Jack and his cousin Woody Guthrie wrote the song. I betcha that Woody wrote the lyrics and Jack the music as Woody really wasn't into Western Swing. I first heard the song on Arlo Guthrie's 2nd album: Washington County. I always liked Jim Reeves' cover. But Jimmy has a great voice. He was one of the best.
