I was born just at the end of WWII. This music was on every juke box as I grew up, (in a restaurant, the old one nickel call to an operator who would play your song at your table) and I remember this great music. It formed my idea of what IS good music. It can make one scat or jazz and play any instrument, or song, and is soothing on the soul. Always the best real singers and bands from the 1920s to the 1950s. It is actually the tempo I live with.
dear oh dear, whats happened to music? this is absolutely fabulous! Jo was a brilliant singer! loved her,I was born in 1945 and my parents sang all these songs as time went by,this music means so much to people of my generation.
i adore this song and, of course Miss Stafford's rendition. Her voice is so clear and her enunciation exact. Exceptional!! And the music, the music!!! the horns , golly, what a recording.
Blue moon you saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
Blue moon
You knew just what I was there for
You heard me saying a pray'r for
Someone I really could care for
And then there suddenly appeared before me
The only one my arms will ever hold
I heard somebody whisper "Please adore me"
And when I looked, the moon had turned to gold!
Blue moon! Now I'm no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
GI Jo as she was called by the boys in the service, crooning her way through this wonderful V-Disc recording that was shipped out for those in the service at the end of the war. What a gorgeous voice and a gorgeous song.
