The first time I heard Joan, I was stunned. I had tears in my eyes. The same thing happened again at Woodstock, but it was raining, so nobody noticed. Boys did not cry in those days we were told. They were just sent to war unless they got lucky with a high lottery number, like me. She was good for our souls. Made us into good pirates.
Joan's small figure was visible on the lighted stage as we sat in the darkness, 500,000 silent.
Fourty years ago i've been listening Free Europe Radio when i heared her singing.Only for a few years that i found her again.Charmed me than and charms me now.I believe her voice is a reflexion of herself,a clear drop of water.
she has the most amazing voice, I am so glad she performed & recorded these songs so they will hopefully not be lost in a landslide of electronic rubbish
If Joan Baez and Donovan were having a sing-off in my house based on their performance of 'Henry Martin', then it would be hard to choose. But first, it would be the best evening ever, and second I would never wash my ears again.
I love how Joan sing's this incredible song! Also, what a stunning photograph!
This black & white photo captures the intensity of Joan's face, It is one of my favourite early photograph's of Joan and rarely ever seen.
