Joe Sample - Carmel download song

The first real jazz album I bought in college 40 years ago. I still listen to it--the CD. The album is long gone.

This great song is about where my paternal grandmother and my dad lived out their final days. I used to visit Carmel from time to time when I was a little girl. Joe Sample really must've put tons of effort into this album and its title track. Godspeed, Joe.

RIP, my friend. I had the privilege of seeing you a few times at the Bluenote in NYC, and a few more times in Philadelphia.  There will never be another one like you.

My opinion of this song is that it is a MASTERPIECE. Joe Sample was definitely one of the best.

I can remember when he player with the crusaders, this is what's considered real music

if you close your eyes, the music almost takes you to carmel (by the sea).

When I bought my new audio equipment in 1978 or '79, this one of the first albums that I bought to play on my system---the other was Bill Evans w/ Toots.

So energetic and smooth at the same time. Joe was a genius and his passion came through in his music.
