Indeed, it brings back some great memories of the 60's so long ago when we were young and carefree. Good times, good music. When listening to this song the great days are back again. Kind rocking regards from Roland.
There is an interesting story behind the creation of "Rocking goose" with its famous squawking goose sound. At the Big Top recording session the reed in Johnny Paris saxophone broke and he went into the studio toilet to try out a replacement. Harry Balk, the A&R man for the session followed him and heard Johnny blowing the new reed. Harry liked the sound so much that it was featured on "Rocking goose" as the frantic goose (duck?) squawk.
Thank you Husky for your kind feedback. If I don't listen to rock'n' roll, I don't have no fun at all. Rock 'n' roll gave me all the best years of my life. I will never forget that. R 'n' R was in the 50's the first sympton of a social revolution. It will always be and will go down in historee.
"Red river rock" on Warwick sold a million copies and reached number three in the UK and number five in the US. "Reveille rock" and"Beatnik fly" were smaller hits. Switching to the Big Top label the Hurricanes notched up another number three in the UK with "Rocking goose" during a week in 1960 when instrumentals made up nine of the top 30.

This has got to be one of the most beautiful instrumentals in music ever. However I don't think it would be such a good idea to play it on a funeral. I'm glad this music brings back some memories of your mother. The worst thing in live is being forgotten by someone you can never forget.
This fabulous instrumental "Rocking goose" gives me a lot of wonderful memories of the 60's, so long ago. Strange but when I listen to the song I can feel the smell of my old boy's room. Thanks so much, I'm glad you like my post.
