In the late 19 70's and 1980's in Nigeria, Juice Newton was very popular among many Urban folks and Radio DJ living in the Southern part of Nigeria; especially in he South Western part.
Is it just me, or did I hear a bit a tape stretching in the audio? That was back when they recorded to analog, rather than all of the digital stuff of today. Analog had more "soul" and personality to it.
I saw Juice in the early '70's at a State Fair in CA. She was the opening act for Rick Nelson. Her group was AWESOME ! They sang, just snapping their fingers - EVERYONE was up on their feet & dancing on that football field! What a WONDERFUL experience !
So cool to finally see this video. I shot the production stills for that up in Monterey/Carmel where I'm from. Michael Nesmith produced and may have directed as well. All I remember was everyone had a great time shooting it.
For all of you people who have made such derogatory comments about Juice Newton and this song, I have to believe you have absolutely no sense of humor, and quite possibly, many of you did not graduate in the top 99 percentile of your high school graduating class. This is a very funny video. I put this video up there with Reba McEntire's "Why Haven't I Heard From You?"
I love these style of videos from the 80's when the video tracked with the song and the artist could make fun of it or throw some humorous storyline that made it memorable. It could be done with taste and not with women wanting to be noticed by wearing butt floss and shaking their ass at a camera.
