Hated Lawrence Welk Show when I was a kid. Gotta admit tho, this music is a lot of fun.

Lawrence Welk had quite a few singles on the charts in the early '60's including this one. No idea which one was first.

I still have this song on a vinyl record! Mr. Welk really branched out with this album! It was Number One in the hit parade here in Toronto, Canada in the early sixties. I still love to hear it! A grandma of two.

Is this the original or was it Jet Harris. I think Jet sounded more like what I remember being played on the radio back in 1963 but can't be sure. Welk's band had a few instrumental singles out in those days.

That's a good question, I don't know the story behind the title.

The guitarist featured in Lawrence Welk orchestra's version was Neil de Vang. The strength of this version of Scarlett O'Hara is the superb orchestral backing with plenty of strings and horns. Superb effect!

One of my all time favourite instrumentals from the summer of 1963. Both the Welk & Jet Harris/Tony Meehan versions are wonderful. Thanks so much for posting this gem!

Although not a huge Welk fan, I LOVE this particular song, along with "Calcutta" and especially his version of Del Shannon's "Runaway1' (la, la,la)

I grew up watching his show every week with the reruns on PBS during the '90's and I am a fan too!

Charted at NO. 79  in Record World.  Should have been a Top 10 hit as it was in England by  the original artists.
