The pilot was Germany's virtuoso fighter ace, Hans-Joachim Marseille, killed 30 September, 1942, aged 22. This was his favorite song.

Fantastique! I have one very old mono LP from 1958 of the Lecuona Cuban Boys, but this song is very beautiful!

I discovered this song reading the bio of a WWII German Pilot that loved this song, and it was played over and over when he died at 22 in Sept. 1942. Awesome song. Esta musica es lo mejor.

Wow!!! and I was born in 1935, so now nearing 77 years of age (in 2012) I remember these musics as the first ones I heard in my early childhood!! (I was 3 in 1938) Wow!!
