Saw Leon twice in concert, both times in the now-defunct Raspberry's in Angels Camp, Calaveras County, California, in the early 1980's. The first time he played his guitar and was accompanied by a hung-over-looking guy on a tuba, and the second time it was with the tuba guy and another one on the clarinet. Raspberry's was a small, intimate venue, and the concerts were beyond memorable. Redbone's virtuosity on the guitar is something that you'd have to see him live to appreciate -- it doesn't shine through so much on his records. Was amazing watching him perform from about ten feet away.
