I was talking with the owner/manager of a Christian radio station a few days ago who came to the Lord a year before me in 1971. We began to reminisce a little, rattling off those great "Jesus movement" singers and groups like Love Song, The Way, Barry McGuire, the 2nd Chapter of Acts, Andre Crouch & the Disciples, Randy Matthews, Randy Stonehill, etc.
I was suddenly STUNNED to hear him say, "Of couse, that music SUCKED in comparison to the worship music we have today."
On my way home--thinking back to how INSPIRING, how INNOVATIVE, and how EVANGELISTIC that music was back then--I could only shake my head in disbelief at how far in the wrong direction today's Christian music has gone--from edifying others and reaching the lost to being ALL ABOUT US and how we're personally doing with the Lord--and I felt sorry for the guy running the Christian radio station for his shallow comparison.
The CRAP they call ''christian'' music today is pathetic!! This song from the early days of CCM is the real deal! God Bless LoveSong for never compromising in their faith in Jesus Christ!!

Dan, it really was the golden age of contemporary Christian music. It was
a quantum shift. It was like....Star Wars or The Beatles in it's newness and impact. it was not a new wave; it was a tidal wave. The perfect fusion of folk, soft rock, and uncompromising message. It was too good. We got
spoiled.
