I was born in 1951 and my parents kindly exposed me to some of the early comedians like Mae West and Charlie Chaplin, the three Stooges and more. In the first grade my teacher asked the students to perform skits and such. I did Mae's "Come up and see me sometime!" line with her delightful throaty, sexy voice. The teacher lost it, she couldn't stop laughing. My school mates just didn't get it. Poker faces all around. It's a great memory for me.
when I was a little girl I used to fantasize about being a lady one day and practice put my hand on my hip walk around swishing my hips sayin won't cha come and see me sometime Big Boy lol
I think the most famous one-liner is when one of her friends sent an associate to meet her off a train and told him to 'give her a big smooch for me'. This he did, and Mae responded, "Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?" He went as red as anything. She subsequently used that line in one of her movies.
