Me too, on the Toy Dolls version, having only heard that. Then last night after Elvis Costello and the Impostors rocked the house we all walked out of the venue to this version. It was perfect, as there were sly references to "Trump" all evening.
From Wikipedia: "The rhythm and tempo of this song is often used to teach people the rhythm of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The recommended rate for CPR is 100 chest compressions per minute."
Wonderful - haven't heard this in decades. Did ever an orchestra play the part of a dramatic circus, jungle, escape and acheivement? Musical intelligence at its most delightful. This and the Little Engine that Could are signatures of my life. Thanks for the post.
I'm an American, only time I saw Mandy was in The Man in the White Suit - her chewing on a big wad of candy, then breathing out hel-looooo to Alec Guiness in the basement - made me laugh!
Is that Charlie Chaplin at 1:27 ?
I also knew the song from the Doy Tolls version, but the original is really cute. Now I even like it more than the cover. Well maybe I am getting old ....
