Lonely teardrops, my pillow nerver dries
Lonely teardrops, come home, come home
Just say you will, just say you will, say you will
My heart is cryin', cryin'
— RU. GL5
Just give me another chance for a romance
Come on and tell me when do you return
'Cause everybody that you been gone away
You know my heart does nothin' but burn, cry
I love the Jackie Wilson version, probably the best song, by the best voice ever recorded. But, this version by Michael is wonderful too ... and you can tell it was from when he was really young, but still gets the passion of the song. Michael & Jackie ... so sad they are both gone now.
Michael looked up to Jackie Wilson & James Brown...he has said
James Brown was his biggest influence out of both singers...not Elivs!
yeah i said it!! RIP to all of them
Michael Jackson, child soul genius. What a phenomenal version of this Jackie Wilson classic, Michael could sing the phonebook and move his listeners to tears.
I wonder if Jackie himself ever heard this version which by the way was recorded in the early 70's when he was still around ? in 1975 Jackie told a british music paper Shout in what turned out to be one of his last interviews} he thought the Jackson 5 could do a fine cover version of his first hit Reet Petite
I love when the J5 did songs of others... especially when I didn't know they did that song... but, I would loved them more if they did them closer to the way the original was, just to hear if Michael could pull it off that way. That's the problem I have with a lot of there covers, they had to add the J5 flavor, when it wasn't needed each time.
