it ll nearly be like a picture print
Outside the snow is falling, it s lovely weather
just hear those sleigh bells jingling
Let s take that road before us, outside the snow is falling
it s lovely weather
And the pumpkin pie, let s take that road before us, our cheeks are nice and rosy
When they pass around the coffee, just hear those sleigh bells jingling Mitch, at the home of farmer gray
let s take that road before us
and comfy cozy are we
let s take that road before us
and sing a chorus or two
At the home of farmer gray, let s take that road before us
Like two birds of a feather would be, outside the snow is falling
and sing a chorus or two
And the pumpkin pie, we re riding along with a song, as you one can see
Just holding your hand, like two birds of a feather would be, the chestnuts pop
it ll nearly be like a picture print
there s a birthday party
It s lovely weather, we re riding along with a song
It s lovely weather, we re riding in a wonderland of snow
we re snuggled up together

Just a couple weeks ago I happened upon a big cache of these Singalong with Mitch records at a thrift store for 80 cents a piece.
As a guy in his mid-30's, I'm young enough that I completely missed the whole Mitch phenomenon, although I do recognize this recording through mere coincidence from the holiday programming that runs on one of the local pop radio stations here in Des Moines from Thanksgiving to Christmas.
So, why did I buy all these records, then? Well, you're gonna laugh. He just seemed like such a fun guy on the album covers, and I thought a singalong would be a fun thing for myself, the wife, and the kiddo to do on some random evening. I'm glad I bought them! :-)
Cheers!
My brother and I wore this album out - we would make mom play it over and over on the stereo we had .... Mom and Dad bought the stereo back in the late 50's - it was the center part of our living room
I remember my late father playing the original Columbia LP on his RCA Victor tube phonograph back in the mid 60's. Never realizing how special Mitch Miller's music is.
"Sleigh Ride" happens to be my favorite Christmas song of all time (even though Christmas is not mentioned in the son, not unlike "Jingle Bells"). And IMHO this is the best version of all, nosing out Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme's version and The New Christy Minstrels' version.
My folks had this album! I was listening to this around age 5 during the holidays.... Remember the Sears Wish Book? Remember when the whiners weren't "offended" by Christmas?
