One of the things that made Paul Anka's sound so inimitable ( besides his voice, of course) was the incredible orchestration behind all the ABC-Paramount hits. I won't elaborate, but some one else (other than me) should look that fact up.
This was always my fave Paul Anka song (actually, probly a "tie" with "Times of Your Life")....luv the mandolin parts...I have two songs composed that have mandolin in them...subliminal musical influence from songs like this...
Saw Paul Anka at Rincon Harrah's several years ago. He still has the magic. When he invited the audience too the stage for autographs it was a female stampede.
0:02 The thought of living in a world where Paul Anka’s music was really popular at the time seems so distant to me, having been born in 2004. But it was indeed a time that existed. It must have been nice.
Other Anka works get a lot more attention, but this is such a wonderful song; thanks for posting!
(What a wonderful story, too. Still haven't found the Vilar sisters?)
