The girl left me eventually a few years later for a chance to go to school back East. I went off to the war, one of my friends went to the war with me. Killed himself after the second attack on Falluja.
My other friend stayed and went to school, got married and moved away. We barely talk anymore. Still friends though, for life.
Life moved on.... but this song will always be that eternally youthful night. Sweet cold ocean air... cheap booze, and a lot of love and happiness and laughter. Deep conversations about dreams that would never come true, but hope in every word....
